Terms of service
The agreement between you and UnShamed when you use our website, community, job board, or the Compliance Companion.
Last updated October 15, 2026
These terms apply to theunshamed.com, the UnShamed community, the job board, and the UnShamed Compliance Companion at app.theunshamed.com (together, the "Services"). UnShamed is an Ephraim Technology company. By using the Services, you agree to these terms and our privacy policy.
1. Not legal, medical, or professional advice
The Compliance Companion is an organizational tool. It is not legal advice, and UnShamed is not a law firm. It helps you keep track of what your board order asks of you. It does not tell you what your order means, what your obligations are, or how to respond to your board.
- Your board order and your board's instructions are always the final word. If anything in the Companion differs from your order, follow your order.
- The Companion uses AI to read the documents you upload. AI can make mistakes. That's why what it finds is shown to you as a draft, and nothing is added to your records until you confirm it. You are responsible for checking that every requirement, date, and detail is correct and complete.
- Reminders are a help, not a guarantee. You remain responsible for meeting every requirement of your order on time.
- Community posts and resources are shared for support and general information only. For advice about your situation, talk to a licensed attorney.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 to use the Services. Keep your login details private. You're responsible for what happens in your account, including actions by people you give "can manage" access.
3. Compliance Companion subscription
Free trial
New nurse accounts start with a 7-day free trial with full access. No card is needed to start. If you don't choose a plan by the end of the trial, your account stays open and readable, but you won't be able to add or change records until you subscribe.
Plans and billing
The Companion costs $47 per month or $470 per year, plus any applicable taxes. The first 100 subscribers (founding members) and nurses with a hardship code pay $29 per month instead, for as long as that subscription stays active; if it ends, a new subscription is charged at the regular price. You choose your plan inside the app. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. We'll give you notice before any price change takes effect for your plan.
Cancelling
You can cancel anytime from Plan & billing in the app. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, and it won't renew after that. We don't give refunds for partial months or years, except where the law requires it.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, we'll ask you to update your card. If it isn't resolved, your subscription ends. Your records stay safe and readable, and you can add or change them again once you resubscribe.
4. Sharing and invited professionals
You decide who can see your records and what they can see. Attorneys, monitors, and board staff you invite get a free individual login. They may only use your records to support you and must respect any limits you set. You can end their access at any time.
Law firms, monitoring programs, and licensing boards that sign up for firm or agency plans agree to separate terms for those plans.
5. Your content
Everything you add to the Companion stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to provide the Services to you, as described in our privacy policy. Only upload documents you have the right to share.
6. Community and job board
- Treat members with respect. No harassment, shaming, or sharing anyone else's identity or story outside the community.
- What's shared in the community stays in the community. We may remove posts or members who break this trust.
- Job listings are posted by employers. We review them before they go live, but we don't verify every detail and are not part of the hiring process. Check each opportunity yourself.
7. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Services. For example, don't try to access anyone else's records, upload harmful files, copy or resell the Services, or use them for anything illegal.
8. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep the Services running, but we can't promise they'll always be available or error-free. We may update features over time. Download your records regularly if you want your own copy.
9. Ending your account
You can stop using the Services and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we ever stop offering the Companion, we'll give you notice and a chance to download your records.
10. Disclaimers and limits of liability
The Services are provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, UnShamed is not liable for any decision made by a licensing board, employer, or court, or for any missed requirement, deadline, or consequence of your order. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date above and let Companion members know by email. Continuing to use the Services after that means you accept the updated terms.
